Research, Product Development, and Innovation
What is involved to complete your idea and bring it to production? Whether you're a startup racing to market or an established company solving complex challenges, Atrick's startup-friendly, agile product development methods cut through the noise to focus on what actually matters.
We start with a complete understanding of your idea, rapidly identify what's working and where the real issues lie, then simplify and deliver designs that exceed expectations, often in days, not months.
For startups: We're your technical co-founder without the equity cost. From proof-of-concept to investor ready prototypes to scalable production, we help you move fast and avoid costly mistakes.
Our approach: We excel at problem-solving and sifting through complexity to find elegant solutions that work. When competitors failed to deliver, we solved the problem and had a working 3D printed prototype in their client's hands within days.
Below are the different disciplines we use to bring products to life, whether you need one piece or the complete journey from napkin sketch to production line.
This design demonstrates our CAD expertise in action. Working from vintage drawings and 3D scanned castings, we created dual configurations for this transaxle, one faithful to the original, another optimized for modern components. Complex geometry and functionality precisely executed.
Design verification just got faster and bigger. Our in house Connecticut 3D printing eliminates the wait and size constraints that slow progress.
Quick turn 3D printing is available on:
SLA printing 12.9" x 7.25" x 15.7" (at .002" resolution)
Massive FDM prints up to 31.5" x 31.5" x 39"
We rapidly produce full-scale prototypes that others have to section, functional prototypes, translucent parts for internal visualization, casting patterns, and lost-wax like models. Even larger parts? We'll section and assemble them fast.
Metal printing can be sourced when cost-effective or required.
3D scanning creates precise digital copies of existing parts or spaces using our in-house scanner with .006" resolution. The resulting files (.stl, .ply, .obj, or point clouds) are imported into CAD to use as a design reference or create new part files. The images show scanned data (purple/green) overlaid with our CAD work (grey), including machined features (blue) and casting reference points (green) for production accuracy.
Modular design builds products from sensible, serviceable pieces that scale. Unlike specialists stuck in their silos, we design across mechanical, electrical, and software boundaries to prevent costly integration problems. We see the whole system, not just components or disciplines. Our experience spans the entire product lifecycle: design, fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting, refinement, and production.
Need PCB assemblies? They are quick-turned through multiple partners. Ready for production? We have manufacturer relationships in place to help you find your path.
Prototypes prove your concept works.
Reliable production design makes it profitable.
We handle the complete journey from idea to prototype to volume production. Yet many companies ship working prototypes as a "finished" product. This means living with endless warranty claims, support calls, and maintenance nightmares. Those quick fixes and band-aid solutions? They compound into long-term costs that eat your margins.
We evolve designs for real-world manufacturing: fewer parts, faster assembly, lower costs, higher reliability. Whether starting from scratch or fixing what's already shipping, we replace expensive complexity with elegant solutions that actually scale. The difference between constantly fighting fires and building a sustainable product. Need it backwards compatible? We can do that too.
Pretty renderings sell ideas. Engineering makes them real.
When industrial design ignores manufacturing, safety, and usability constraints, you get gorgeous concepts that become production nightmares. That sleek housing? Can't be molded. The minimalist interface? Fails safety testing. The award-winning design? Users can't figure it out.
We prevent these expensive surprises by grounding industrial design in practical reality from the start.
UL, ETL, IEC 60601, Safety Labeling, Build Book, and clean BOM's are all parts of safety testing and manufacturing. Atrick Design will design for safety testing and will guide your product through safety testing from discovery through approval.
There are many uncommon terms used in product development. We do our best to use easy to understand terminology but occasionally will use the common acronym, initialism, or term. We have a page of terms to help you make sense of this.
We deliver long term value with simplified, turn-key, world class designs. We have the practical hands on experience, understanding, and tools to navigate risk, simplify, and deliver designs and turn key solutions above your expectations. You won't be bogged down with flashy acronyms, false badges of achievement, empty promises, surprise costs, or blindsided by trouble areas. We're raising the bar on design, communication, and quality. Work with us to experience a better way forward. See our blog for some of the projects we have done.
